Our planet means the world to me.
What I stand for is what I stand on. - Wendell Berry
When Jazzibelle was launched, I made a commitment to tread lightly on Mother Earth because every ingredient used at Jazzibelle to help heal, nourish and uplift is sourced from her. Additionally, the inspiration for every deep relaxation treatment is based on her beauty and serenity.
To celebrate this, I wanted to share the small and humble steps I have taken towards being environmentally conscious, to hopefully inspire you to make small changes as well:
In 2020, the company’s environmental commitment started with selecting organic suppliers with sustainable packaging, ensuring that Jazzibelle shipments were packaged with cornstarch packing peanuts and recyclable materials (including gift wrapping) and 100% recycled paper business cards. Additionally, the lab and spa were placed in the same building, enabling products to be created, applied and sold without the impact of additional transport.
In 2021, I am so happy to be able to share that Jazzibelle’s products are now packaged sustainably, including:
grass paper labels: the production of grass paper requires significantly less energy than traditional paper, reducing CO2 emissions. Grass paper is also not treated with harsh chemicals, ensuring no toxic waste is being produced. Finally, grass paper is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. For more information, click here.
brown glass jars: brown glass ensures that your Jazzibelle product isn’t affected by light. This sustains shelf-life, thus reducing waste. Additionally, glass is 100% recyclable.
Aluminum caps on all toners and oil products: Aluminum can be infinitely recycled without losing its properties. I intent to extend these Aluminum Lids to my Face Creams as well.
The journey so far has not been easy. I have had to give up raw material suppliers because of their inability to provide sustainable packing options, I have gone back and forth with my label choice for months unable to find green solutions that fit smaller companies, but in the end I always managed to find solutions.
The main lesson I take away from this experience so far is to be tenacious in your pursuit of doing the right thing. Even if it isn’t always easy. Even if it takes longer. Once you manage to do it, success tastes even sweeter.
If you want more information on my journey, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I am happy to share everything I have learned.
Love and light always,
Jasmine
