How to wash out & reuse your glass dropper

Glass Droppers can seem hard to clean, encouraging many people to throw them out, when they can be reused for personal use.

Today, I am going to give you a step-by-step tutorial on how to clean out your glass dropper.

What you will need:

  • A clean bowl

  • Access to warm water

  • cotton buds

  • Dishwashing soap

  • 70% Isopropyl alcohol (can be purchased at a local pharmacy in Switzerland)

  • Kitchen towel

Step 1: Separate the dropper from the cap.

To do this, hold the glass dropper in one hand and the lid in the other. Slowly rotate the glass dropper in circles and pull slightly. This will detach it.

Step 2: Soak the dropper and cap.

Place the glass dropper and cap in hot water with dishwashing soap. Allow this to soak for several hours, or for best results, overnight.

Step 3: Rinse the two pieces and repeat step 2.

Step 2 will remove a large amount of the oil from your dropper and cap but for optimum cleaning, do not skip step 3. Before rinsing, complete step 4.

Step 4: Clean the inside of the glass dropper.

While the water is still soapy, clean the inside of the glass dropper using a cotton bud.

Step 5: Disinfect the glass dropper & cap

Now that the glass dropper and cap are clean, it is time to disinfect them. You can do this by soaking them in 70% isopropyl alcohol for at least 5 minutes. Do not rinse.

Step 6: Air dry on kitchen towel & then reassemble

Once you have disinfected, place the wet pieces on a paper towel and allow to completely dry before reassembling.
